Honda bows out of AMA Road Racing, Yamaha cheers PDF Print E-mail
Written by Chad McCan

honda-racingHonda announced, this week, that they will not field a factory race team for the 2009 AMA Supersport or Superbike series. Honda blames the economy, even though they are the ones building $12,000 liter bikes instead of something affordable. The new CRF-450r offroad dirt bike will retail for roughly $8,000 which is absurd in every way. Honda only has themselves to blame for their economic troubles, much like our own stateside auto manufacturers. It will be interesting to see what happens now that Suzuki and Kawasaki said they will  not race under the new ruleset the DMG has put in place. Yamaha has an all new R1 to sell and should be able to put it on the top of the box in every round if no other factory teams show up.
